Chintamani : ಚಿಂತಾಮಣಿ ವಿಧಾನಸಭಾ ಚುನಾವಣೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಮತದಾರರ ಮೇಲೆ ಪ್ರಭಾವ ಬೀರಲು ಯತ್ನಿಸಲು ಮತದಾರರಿಗೆ ಹಂಚಲಾಗುತ್ತಿದ್ದರೆನ್ನಲಾದ ₹28.14 ಲಕ್ಷ ಮೌಲ್ಯದ 6,400 ಸೀರೆಗಳನ್ನು ವಾಣಿಜ್ಯ ತೆರಿಗೆ ಇಲಾಖೆ ಅಧಿಕಾರಿಗಳು ವಶಪಡಿಸಿಕೊಂಡಿದ್ದಾರೆ.
ಶನಿವಾರ ರಾತ್ರಿ ಕೈವಾರ ಕ್ರಾಸ್ ಬಳಿ ವಾಣಿಜ್ಯ ತೆರಿಗೆ ಅಧಿಕಾರಿ ಸಿ.ಎಂ.ಜೀವನ್ ಮತ್ತು ಅವರ ತಂಡ ಸೀರೆಗಳನ್ನು ವಶಪಡಿಸಿಕೊಂಡಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ಖಚಿತ ಮಾಹಿತಿ ಮೇರೆಗೆ ಕಾರ್ಯಾಚರಣೆ ನಡೆಸಿದ ಅಧಿಕಾರಿಗಳು ಬೆಂಗಳೂರಿನಿಂದ ಚಿಂತಾಮಣಿಗೆ ಸೀರೆಗಳನ್ನು ಸಾಗಿಸುತ್ತಿದ್ದ ಎರಡು ಟೆಂಪೋಗಳನ್ನು ತಡೆಡಿದ್ದಾರೆ.
ಪರಿಶೀಲಿಸಿದಾಗ, ಸೀರೆಗಳು ಬಾಕ್ಸ್‌ಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಪತ್ತೆಯಾಗಿವೆ ಮತ್ತು ಟೆಂಪೋಗಳ ಚಾಲಕ ಯಾವುದೇ ದಾಖಲೆಗಳನ್ನು ನೀಡಲು ಅಥವಾ ಮಾಲೀಕತ್ವದ ವಿವರಗಳನ್ನು ನೀಡಲು ವಿಫಲರಾಗಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ಈ ಕುರಿತು ವಾಣಿಜ್ಯ ತೆರಿಗೆ ಇಲಾಖೆ ಅಧಿಕಾರಿಗಳು ಮುಂದಿನ ಕ್ರಮಕ್ಕಾಗಿ ತಹಸೀಲ್ದಾರ್‌ಗೆ ವರದಿ ಸಲ್ಲಿಸಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ಕಂದಾಯ ಇಲಾಖೆ ಅಧಿಕಾರಿಗಳು ಗ್ರಾಮಾಂತರ ಠಾಣೆಗೂ ದೂರು ನೀಡಿದ್ದಾರೆ.
ಪ್ರತಿಯಾಗಿ ಪೊಲೀಸರು ಪ್ರಕರಣ ದಾಖಲಿಸಿಕೊಂಡು ಎರಡು ವಾಹನ ಹಾಗೂ ಚಾಲಕನನ್ನು ವಶಪಡಿಸಿಕೊಂಡಿದ್ದಾರೆ.
6,400 Sarees worth ₹28.14 lakh Seized
Chintamani : In an alleged attempt to influence voters in the Chintamani assembly elections, officials from the Commercial Tax Department have seized 6,400 sarees valued at ₹28.14 lakh. The sarees were reportedly being distributed to voters and were seized by Commercial Tax Officer CM Jeevan and his team on Saturday night near Kaiwara Cross. Acting on specific information, the officials intercepted two tempos transporting the sarees from Bengaluru to Chintamani.
Upon inspection, the sarees were found inside boxes and the driver of the tempos failed to produce any documents or provide ownership details. The Commercial Tax Department officials have reported the incident to the Tehsildar for further action. A complaint has also been lodged by revenue department officials with the rural police station.
In response, the police have registered a case and seized the two vehicles and the driver. The incident has raised concerns about the fairness and transparency of the electoral process and highlights the need for strict measures to curb such illegal activities.
