Chikkaballapur : ಚಿಕ್ಕಬಳ್ಳಾಪುರ ತಾಲ್ಲೂಕು ಕಚೇರಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಜಿಲ್ಲಾ ತಂಬಾಕು ನಿಯಂತ್ರಣ ಕೋಶದಿಂದ (District Tobacco Control Cell) ತಾಲ್ಲೂಕು ಮಟ್ಟದ ಸಮನ್ವಯ ಸಮಿತಿ ಸಭೆ ನಡೆಯಿತು.
ಸಭೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಮಾತನಾಡಿದ ತಹಶೀಲ್ದಾರ್ ಗಣಪತಿ ಶಾಸ್ತ್ರಿ ”ಪ್ರಮುಖ ಸ್ಥಳಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಹಾಗೂ ಶಿಕ್ಷಣ ಸಂಸ್ಥೆಗಳ ಆವರಣದಲ್ಲಿ ‘ತಂಬಾಕು ಮುಕ್ತ ಪ್ರದೇಶ’ ಎಂದು ನಾಮಫಲಕ ಅಳವಡಿಸಿ ತಂಬಾಕಿನ ಹಾನಿಗಳ ಕುರಿತು ಭಿತ್ತಿಪತ್ರ ಅಥವಾ ಜಾಗೃತಿ ಬರಹಗಳನ್ನು ಪ್ರದರ್ಶಿಸಬೇಕು. ಶಿಕ್ಷಣ ಸಂಸ್ಥೆಗಳ ನೀತಿ ಸಂಹಿತೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ತಂಬಾಕು ಸೇವನೆ ನಿಷೇಧ ಎಂಬ ನಿಯಮ ಸೇರಿಸಿ ಕನಿಷ್ಠ 1 ಬಾರಿಯಾದರೂ ತಂಬಾಕು ನಿಯಂತ್ರಣದ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ಅರಿವು ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮ ಏರ್ಪಡಿಸಬೇಕು ಮತ್ತು 6 ತಿಂಗಳಿಗೆ ಒಮ್ಮೆ ಚಟುವಟಿಕೆ ನಡೆಸಿರುವ ಕುರಿತು ಮಾಹಿತಿ ವರದಿ ನಿರ್ವಹಿಸಬೇಕು. ಶಿಕ್ಷಣ ಸಂಸ್ಥೆಯ 100 ಮೀಟರ್ ಒಳಗೆ ತಂಬಾಕು ಉತ್ಪನ್ನಗಳನ್ನು ಮಾರಾಟ ಮಾಡುವ ಅಂಗಡಿಗಳು ಇರುವಂತಿಲ್ಲ. ತಂಬಾಕು ಮುಕ್ತ ಶಾಲೆಯನ್ನಾಗಿಸಲು ಈ ಎಲ್ಲ ಮಾನದಂಡಗಳ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ಕ್ರಮವಹಿಸಬೇಕ” ಎಂದರು.
ಸಿಪಿಐ ಬಿ ರಾಜು, ನಗರಸಭೆ ಆಯುಕ್ತ ಉಮಾಶಂಕರ್, ತಾಲ್ಲೂಕು ಆರೋಗ್ಯಾಧಿಕಾರಿ ಡಾ.ಮಂಜುಳಾ, ಜಿಲ್ಲಾ ತಂಬಾಕು ನಿಯಂತ್ರಣ ಕೋಶದ ಸಮಾಜ ಕಾರ್ಯಕರ್ತ ಮಂಜುನಾಥ ಇತರರು ಮತ್ತಿತರರು ಉಪಸ್ಥಿತರಿದ್ದರು.
Officials Advocate for Tobacco-Free Educational Institutions
In a recent meeting held by the District Tobacco Control Cell at Chikkaballapur taluk office, a taluk level coordination committee was convened to discuss strategies to combat tobacco usage in educational institutions. The meeting was attended by prominent officials, including Tehsildar Ganapati Shastri, CPI B Raju, Municipal Commissioner Umashankar, Taluk Health Officer Dr. Manjula, and District Tobacco Control Cell Social Worker Manjunath.
During the meeting, Tehsildar Ganapati Shastri proposed the installation of “tobacco free zone” signs in key locations and premises of educational institutions. He emphasized the importance of displaying posters and awareness writings about the harms of tobacco to increase awareness about the negative effects of tobacco usage. The Tehsildar also recommended that educational institutions include the rule of prohibition of tobacco consumption in their code of conduct and conduct at least one awareness program about tobacco control. Additionally, he suggested that an information report should be maintained about the activity once in six months, and that there should not be any shops selling tobacco products within 100 meters of educational institutions. These measures, he said, would help make schools tobacco-free.
The other officials present at the meeting, including CPI B Raju, Municipal Commissioner Umashankar, Taluk Health Officer Dr. Manjula, and District Tobacco Control Cell Social Worker Manjunath, expressed their support for the proposed measures and discussed ways to implement them effectively.
The meeting was part of a broader effort by the District Tobacco Control Cell to promote tobacco-free educational institutions and raise awareness about the harmful effects of tobacco usage. Through such coordinated efforts, it is hoped that the harmful effects of tobacco usage can be mitigated, leading to a healthier and more informed population.
